Atmospheric abstractions
Paintings in which the familiar meets the undefined. Each work leaves space for personal associations to emerge and for something new to be discovered over time. Traces, layers and fragments evoke memories without fixing them into a single narrative.

ABOUT SIMONE

Simone Schweiger lives and works in Bern, Switzerland. She has been fascinated by abstract art and the way colours and images shape our surroundings since her youth. She works with acrylics and mixed media on canvas. Her paintings explore the interplay of transparent and opaque layers, unexpected textures, and a sense of depth. Each piece evolves through a process of adding, reworking, and revealing elements.Alongside her artistic practice, she works in academic research and university teaching.

RESONANCE
AvailableAcrylic and wax pastels on canvas
100 × 80 cm (39.4 × 31.5 in)
Painted with high-quality artists’ acrylic paint and wax pastels on canvas. The canvas is stretched over a sturdy gallery stretcher frame with a depth of 4.5 cm (1.8 in). The edges are painted, so the painting can be displayed without an additional frame. The painting is finished with a transparent sealant that offers additional protection against UV light and external influences. It is signed on the back, comes with a certificate of authenticity and is ready to hang.Behind this painting lies a long-held desire to try something new. Bringing the idea to life proved more challenging than expected, and I repeatedly had to resist the temptation to stop too soon.Perhaps many experiences in life are similar. Creating something means persevering when the initial enthusiasm fades and the real work begins.Traces of decisions, changes and moments of uncertainty remain visible in the painting’s rough edges, giving it its character.Resonance embodies what remains after an experience and continues to echo within us.The first painting in the “What Remains” series
“Resonance” opens a series exploring what remains after change. Experiences leave traces: some stay clearly visible, while others are overlaid and continue to resonate beneath the surface. The series reflects this through the interplay of dense passages and open pictorial space, and through layers that partly conceal earlier traces or bring them back into view.

A Space of My Own
AvailableAcrylic and wax pastels on canvas
60 × 80 cm (23.6 × 31.5 in)
Painted with high-quality artists’ acrylic paint and wax pastels on canvas. The canvas is stretched over a sturdy gallery stretcher frame with a depth of 4.5 cm (1.8 in). The edges are painted, so the painting can be displayed without an additional frame. The painting is finished with a transparent sealant that offers additional protection against UV light and external influences. It is signed on the back, comes with a certificate of authenticity and is ready to hang.Vivid coral red and orange mingle with pink and violet tones. Deep blue traces a narrow path between the warm areas, gathering at the lower edge of the painting. Soft transitions alternate with clearly defined contours.Areas of colour touch and overlap, while in places their boundaries remain clearly visible. This interplay evokes the balance between closeness and independence. Opening ourselves to others can change our perspective and allow something new to emerge. At the same time, we retain a need for a space of our own, for our own thoughts and our own rhythm. The colours retain their individual character while changing the effect of their neighbours. Between connection and separation, a tension emerges that keeps the painting in motion. The first painting in the “A Space of My Own” series
“A Space of My Own” opens a series about closeness and independence. It explores how we can stay connected to others while preserving a space of our own. Areas of colour meet, overlap and keep their distance, reflecting this tension: each colour retains its character while changing the effect of those around it.
